Tragic Drowning Incident in Godavari – Search Continues for Missing Youths
Konaseema, Andhra Pradesh: A group of 11 youngsters drowned while bathing in the Godavari River near Kamini Lanka in Mummidivaram mandal. While three managed to escape, the remaining eight were swept away.

Rescue Efforts
- SDRF, police, revenue, and fisheries departments are conducting search operations with the help of local fishermen and expert swimmers.
- Eight boats and six drones have been deployed under the supervision of Konaseema District Collector R. Mahesh Kumar and Superintendent of Police Krishna Rao.
How the Incident Happened
- The youth had come to attend a wedding in Seri Lanka, K Gangavaram mandal.
- After lunch, they went to the river for a bath, unaware of the depth and strong currents.
- A chain reaction occurred:
- Two youths started drowning.
- Three others tried to save them but also drowned.
- Three more attempted a rescue and were swept away.
- The remaining three reached the bank and raised an alarm.
Government Response
- Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed shock over the incident.
- He spoke to the Konaseema District Collector, urging maximum rescue efforts and regular updates to the families.
