Hyderabad: Telangana Crime Investigation Department (CID) has
registered a forgery case against the former BRS MLA Dr. Chennamaneni Ramesh.
Based on a complaint lodged by Government Whip
and Congress MLA Aadi Srinivas, the CID booked the case against 67-year-old
Ramesh, a resident of Vemulawada in Karimnagar district. When contacted,
Srinivas confirmed Deccan Chronicle on Tuesday that the CID
issued the FIR after he lodged a complaint addressed to the Director-General of
Police Jitender.
The case was registered under Sections 465
(forgery), 468 (forgery committed with an intention of cheating) and 471 (using
a forged document as genuine) of Indian Penal Code (IPC). Provisions of Section
12 of Passports Act-1967, Section 14 of Foreigners Act-1946 and Section 17 of
Citizenship Act-1955 were also invoked against Ramesh.
In his complaint, Srinivas explained in detail
all the factors related to German citizenship of Ramesh and how he used to
travel frequently to Berlin in violation of norms. Srinivas said Ramesh duped
both the State and Central government apart from voters of Vemulawada Assembly
constituency and committed the offences under the provisions of Citizenship
Act-1955, Passports Act-1967 and other provisions of IPC.
“Ramesh is liable to be prosecuted,” the
Congress MLA said, adding that after obtaining the judgment copy of the case
related to Ramesh from the High Court and discussing with his legal team, he
filed the complaint.
