Security forces are conducting an extensive combing operation in the Karregutta hills of Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh, targeting Maoist insurgents. Reports indicate that several Maoists have escaped the area, moving through various routes toward nearby villages. According to local sources, three batches led by Koyyada Sambayya, alias Azad, have headed toward the Pamed police station area, while two other batches have moved toward Dantewada. However, key Maoist commander Hidma is believed to still be in Karregutta with his team.
For the past 10 days, security forces have intensified this operation across Bijapur district. Hundreds of personnel have surrounded Karregutta, employing drones, helicopters, and vehicles for a tech-driven search. So far, six Maoists have been killed in encounters, and security forces have identified several Maoist hideouts. Sporadic exchanges of fire continue. The operation spans the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border, from Venkataapuram forests to Karregutta. While reports suggest some Maoist teams have fled, police have not officially confirmed these claims. Search operations are ongoing to track remaining Maoists in the region.
