
Berhampore, West Bengal: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has summoned two individuals from Murshidabad for questioning regarding the 2014 Khagragarh blast case, which exposed the Jamaat-ul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) terror network in the region.
Who Are the Accused?
- Abdul Jabbar, a primary school teacher from Sahebnagar, Sagarpara.
- Mohammad Aziz, a toto rickshaw driver from Beldanga.
- Both have been asked to appear at the NIA office in Salt Lake, Kolkata on Tuesday.
NIA’s Suspicions & Investigation
- The agency suspects links between Jabbar, Aziz, and JMB member Tarikul Islam alias Sadiq, who is currently in Berhampore Jail.
- Sources indicate that both individuals were involved in recent anti-Waqf protests and attempted to regroup villagers through closed-door meetings.
- Tarikul Islam, despite being behind bars, is believed to have influenced other inmates to operate a sleeper cell for another banned terror outfit, Ansarullah Bangla Team.
Denial & Financial Constraints
- Jabbar and Aziz deny any involvement in the blast case.
- Jabbar stated he is willing to cooperate with the investigation, while Aziz expressed financial difficulties in traveling to Kolkata for questioning.
