
Mumbai: In a shocking case of extortion, Khar Police arrested three transgender individuals for allegedly threatening and demanding ₹15,000 from a food delivery boy in Bandra.
Incident Details
- The victim, a 29-year-old resident of Santacruz (West), was walking near the Titanic replica at Carter Road on May 24, 2025, at 8:45 PM while making a delivery.
- Unable to find a public toilet, he entered a mangrove area via a footpath.
- Three individuals—Sandhya Pradhan, Nagendra Sardar, and Kavita Kadam—approached him, clapping and demanding money.
- The victim initially offered ₹500, then ₹1,000, but the accused insisted on ₹15,000.
- When he refused to pay, they allegedly threatened to falsely accuse him of molestation.
Police Action & Arrest
- Frightened, the victim rushed out of the mangrove area and alerted a patrolling police van nearby.
- Officers swiftly entered the mangroves, detained the suspects, and took them to Khar Police Station.
- An FIR was filed under Sections 3(5), 308(2), and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act.
- API Santosh Kamble confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspects tried to frame the victim in a false case for extortion.
Legal Proceedings & Investigation
- The accused remain in custody, while police continue to investigate the matter.
- Authorities are also assessing whether the accused were involved in similar incidents.
