What Kind of Mock Drill is Being Conducted in Hyderabad?
What is the purpose of this mock drill, and what activities will it include?
Fire DG Nagireddy: We are conducting a mock drill primarily in four areas of Hyderabad. Within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits of Hyderabad, sirens will sound at every center, including those operated by the police, fire department, and industrial alarms. After the siren goes off at 4:00 PM, the public is expected to follow the precautions outlined in our press note for scenarios like an air raid or any attack. Accordingly, people should take shelter in sturdy buildings or safe locations. At 4:30 PM, another siren will sound, after which people can resume their daily activities as usual.
During this period, to simulate an attack, four locations will be specified by the Integrated Command and Control Center at 4:30 PM. In these four locations, the fire department, police department, SDRF, NDRF, and CISF teams will conduct exercises on how to carry out rescue operations. We request the public to cooperate during this exercise.
This mock drill is merely a nationwide exercise aimed at raising awareness and sensitizing the public. The Government of India is conducting this exercise across the country. Therefore, there is no need for anyone to panic. I urge everyone to participate in this program by cooperating with the police, fire department, and other administrative bodies.
Fire DG Nagireddy: In other areas, people should take precautions from 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM. However, in locations where a full-scale exercise is being conducted, we request the public to cooperate until the exercise is completed.
As a precautionary measure for potential war-like situations in the future, all states are adhering to the directives issued by the central government.
