Relentless Rains in Telugu States, Early Monsoon Arrival This Year
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana today. The Andhra Pradesh Disaster Management Authority stated that heavy rains are likely in some areas of the state. Alluri Sitharama Raju district is expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall. Districts such as Vizianagaram, Manyam, Eluru, Palnadu, and Prakasam may see light to moderate rains with thunderstorms. Kurnool, Nandyal, YSR, Annamayya, and Tirupati districts are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall, while other districts may experience light showers.
Thunderstorms and Warnings
Due to the likelihood of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, authorities have issued warnings to avoid standing under hoardings, trees, dilapidated walls, or buildings. The public has been urged to remain vigilant. The southwest monsoon has already reached Sri Lanka, and favorable conditions suggest it will advance further in the coming days. A cyclonic circulation at 1.5 km above sea level persists over the west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining north coastal areas, likely causing light to moderate rainfall in several parts of the state over the next three days.
Telangana: Two Days of Rain
The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre has forecast moderate rainfall in Telangana for the next two days. Authorities have advised vigilance, issuing an orange alert for some districts and a yellow alert for others. Strong winds are expected, with thunderstorms, lightning, and possible hail in some areas. Daytime temperatures are likely to rise significantly in certain regions, while others may see a slight dip. The public and officials have been urged to stay alert, especially in areas recording heavy rainfall.
