Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu declared that the construction of Amaravati is progressing in a way that every Andhraite can proudly say, “My state is Andhra Pradesh, and my capital is Amaravati.” He stated that Amaravati’s journey from yesterday’s destruction to tomorrow’s development is set to begin. To demonstrate that conspiracies and schemes cannot derail the dreams of Andhra’s people, the capital works will be relaunched on May 2, 2025, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he explained.
CM Naidu held a high-level review meeting at his residence in Undavalli to oversee arrangements for PM Modi’s visit to Amaravati. The meeting was attended by Ministers Payyavula Keshav, Anagani Satya Prasad, Ponguru Narayana, Kollu Ravindra, Nadendla Manohar, and Satya Kumar, along with DGP Harish Kumar Gupta and officials from various departments. The CM lambasted the YSRCP government for destroying the capital, whose foundation was laid by PM Modi a decade ago in 2015. He stated that by restarting the works through the same Prime Minister, they are building a magnificent capital and delivering a strong response to those responsible for the destruction.
Naidu criticized the previous government for damaging Amaravati through numerous conspiracies and attacks. However, he emphasized that Amaravati, envisioned to reflect the aspirations of people from all regions and sections, has withstood these challenges. Within 10 months of the coalition government coming to power, they have addressed the obstacles caused by the previous regime’s destruction and put stalled works back on track, he elaborated. Noting that PM Modi is deeply interested in Amaravati’s development, Naidu said the Prime Minister offered several suggestions during their meeting in Delhi.
The CM clarified that Amaravati represents the self-respect, aspirations, and sentiments of the state’s people, asserting that no one can harm it. He envisioned Amaravati as a hub for wealth creation, providing employment and livelihood opportunities to all sections of society. The day Amaravati’s works resume will mark a historic turning point in the state’s history, he said. He directed officials to organize the event in a festive atmosphere with grandeur. The slogan “Our Amaravati, Our Capital” should resonate with everyone, Naidu emphasized.
The coalition government is prioritizing the development of industrial corridors and ports in Rayalaseema, as well as progress in North Andhra, the CM said, adding that the government is moving forward with comprehensive development across all regions. He called on coalition party members to participate in the Amaravati relaunch celebrations. Today, he will invite coalition MPs, MLAs, and MLCs via a teleconference.
Ministers informed the CM that numerous requests from students to attend the event have been received. Noting that the capital is being built for future generations, Naidu instructed the creation of a special gallery for students. He directed officials to ensure no traffic disruptions for attendees and to implement robust security arrangements. Officials presented the event plans to the CM through a presentation. Naidu emphasized the need for significant participation from villages in the capital region and instructed officials to issue regular updates and announcements regarding transport and other arrangements.
Municipal Administration Minister Ponguru Narayana stated that slight changes have been made to the Prime Minister’s schedule. Explaining the updated schedule, he said, “On May 2, 2025, Prime Minister Modi will arrive in Amaravati at 3:25 PM. He will reach the dais at 3:32 PM. From 3:35 PM, an 11-minute video showcasing the ongoing development works in Amaravati and the CRDA region will be screened. Following this, the Prime Minister will speak for 40 minutes, from 4:05 PM to 4:45 PM. He will depart at 4:45 PM. Given the expected attendance of 5 lakh people, a road show would be challenging, so the Prime Minister will travel directly to the venue by car after arriving by helicopter. The CM has directed participation from all districts. Accordingly, arrangements have been made for travel via eight routes, with three additional routes prepared. Parking facilities have been set up at 11 locations, and food arrangements have been made to avoid any inconvenience. Weather forecasts indicate slight changes that day, and we have instructed officials to take precautions in case of rain or drizzle.”
