Vijayawada: Civil
Supplies minister Nadendla Manohar has said six types of services are
made available for issuance of new ration cards. So far, 72,519 people
have used these services that started on May 8.
From May 15, these services can also be availed from home through WhatsApp by sending a Hello message to 95523 00009.
Speaking
to the media on Sunday, Manohar said the six services include issuance
of new rice cards, division of cards, change of address, addition of
members, removal of existing ones and surrender of cards.

said an opportunity to register the names at the nearest village and
ward secretariats has been provided. From May 15, the opportunity to

In June, new ration cards in the form of smart cards
will be provided free of cost to everyone. There are a total of
1,46,21,223 ration cards in the state. About 4,24,59,028 persons have
registered their names through these cards.

Since
children below 5 years and those above 80 years are not required to do
eKYC, about 6,45,765 people have not been able to do eKYC.

part of the reform, a new smart card will be provided to all those who
have completed KYC. The same card will also contain the details of
family members.

single persons can also get a ration card. Those who are unmarried and
above 50 years of age, those who have separated from their spouses,
those who are single, and those who live in orphanages can also register
for a ration card.

Manohar said these services will be provided
to those who have undergone gender reassignment for the first time.
Special AAY cards will be provided to artists receiving pension in rural
areas and to those belonging to 12 castes such as Chenchus and Yanads
living in hilly areas. Through this, they will be provided 35kg of rice,
the minister added.
