BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao, and BRS MLC K. Kavitha unfollowed MLA Harish Rao on Instagram, giving power to the rumours of him leaving the BRS party.
Speculation has already been rife about BRS MLA Harish Rao leaving party and setting up shop elsewhere. Internal conflicts among the Kalvakuntla family have created deep cracks in the political party, creating strong rifts between cousins Harish Rao and BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao ever since the party lost the 2023 elections in December.
Kavitha unfollowing Harish Rao occurred on Monday morning, subsequent to KTR’s unfollowing action sometime on Sunday.
The Siddipet MLA has always been a frontrunner of the BRS party, standing as one one of the key pillars along with BRS imperator K. Chandrashekar Rao, KTR and Kavitha. Harish Rao has a strong following among the BRS cadre across the state, and many BRS leaders fear that if he leaves the party, a major chunk of the BRS cadre will move along with him.
Harish Rao met with the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Chandrababu Naidu through Kalyan Rao, a mutual acquaintance. Rumours have it that they have discussed about Harish leaving the party he worked for the past 21 years, and either creating a new political party or joining the Telugu Desam Party in Telangana.
Harish meeting Chandrababu had already raised eyebrows, and after the front-runners of the BRS party unfollowed Harish Rao on social media, political gurus and party members are preparing for Harish’s departure from the party and choosing which side to be on.
