Indian actress Soha Ali Khan recently shared how she has been trolled online for her inter-religious marriage with actor Kunal Khemu. Khan got engaged to Kunal Khemu in July 2014 in Paris and later married him on 25 January 2015. The actress is active on social media, showcasing her happy life with her husband, but trolls try to prove otherwise, as she is often asked questions regarding her religion and how she married someone outside her faith.
Soha Ali Khan confessed that she gets trolled online simply because she is married to someone outside her religion and receives negative comments each time she posts pictures with her husband. She also stated that although it doesn’t affect her, she does pay attention to everything.
In an interview with SCREEN Khan stated “I have gotten a bit thick-skinned; it doesn’t bother me. But one thing that amuses me is how, when I post something, people start commenting upon my religion. Because I have married into a Hindu family, my mother has a Hindu surname, and she married a Muslim person (Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi).”
She went on to share more about online trolls and added, “Usually, if we post something on Diwali, they are like, ‘How many rozas have you kept?’ If we post on Holi, there are comments reading, ‘What kind of Muslim you are?’ It doesn’t bother me, but it is something that I do notice.”
