
In a chilling case from Shillong, Meghalaya, Sonam Raghuvanshi and her lover Raj Kushwaha were arrested for orchestrating the murder of Sonam’s husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon. The couple married on May 11, 2025, and traveled to Shillong on May 20. On May 22, they went missing, and Raja’s body was found on June 2, hacked with a machete purchased in Guwahati. Investigations revealed Sonam was unhappy with the arranged marriage and conspired with Raj, who hired contract killers. Sonam lured Raja to a deserted road, where the killers attacked him. She provided her raincoat to one of the assailants, Akash, which was later found 6 km from the crime scene. CCTV footage helped police nab Sonam and three killers on June 9.
