Thane District: Four individuals have been arrested for possessing ganja worth ₹14.18 lakh in Maharashtra’s Thane district.
Thane Drug Seizure – May 24
- Police acted on a tip-off and apprehended the accused near Kashimira.
- Arrested suspects:
✅ Akhtar Rafique Sheikh (32)
✅ Jabbar Khajamiya Sheikh (30)
✅ Sharik Jamir Ansari (21)
✅ Azgar Ali Arshad Hussain Ansari (21) - All four are residents of Bhiwandi.
- Recovered contraband:
✅ 70.9 kg of ganja, valued at ₹14.1 lakh
✅ A tempo used for transportation - Akhtar Rafique Sheikh is a repeat offender with seven previous cases, including theft and organized crime.
- The accused have been booked under the NDPS Act.
Kalyan Railway Station Arrest – May 20
- A man from Gujarat was caught with ganja worth ₹60,000 at Kalyan railway station.
- Arrested suspect:
✅ Nareshkumar Manharbhai Pancholi (34), resident of Gujarat - Authorities found 8.3 kg of ganja after noticing suspicious behavior.
- Railway Protection Force (RPF) & Government Railway Police (GRP) conducted a joint operation.
Navi Mumbai Drug Seizure – May 25
- Police seized 20 kg of ganja worth ₹40 lakh in Navi Mumbai.
- Seven drug peddlers were arrested during Operation Prahar.
- Raids were conducted at 48 locations starting at 5 am on Friday.
- A team of 150 officers was deployed for the operation.
- Efforts are underway to track the source of the seized contraband.
