Mumbai Police Bust Prostitution Racket in Andheri, Arrest 28-Year-Old Man

Mumbai: The Amboli Police have busted a prostitution racket operating in Andheri West, leading to the arrest of 28-year-old Mohammed Gulab Fulbabu Shaikh, alias Sarfaraz, a resident of Versova and native of Bihar.

How the Operation Unfolded

Police received a tip-off about the racket and set up a decoy operation.
Sarfaraz had been running the racket for over a year, targeting young women and aspiring models.
On May 16, a decoy customer contacted Sarfaraz, who shared multiple photos of women and quoted a rate of ₹5000.
Sarfaraz met the decoy in Andheri West, accepted the payment, and escorted him to a lodge, where a 30-year-old woman was found.
Police raided the lodge, arrested Sarfaraz, and rescued the victim.

Legal Action and Investigation

Sarfaraz has been booked under Section 143 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA).
Further investigation is underway to identify other individuals involved in the racket.
Police suspect that Sarfaraz used mobile phones and messaging apps like WhatsApp to operate the racket, offering women to clients at various hotels and lodges across Mumbai.
